Description
In this painting, I explore the nature of vision – not just the physical act of seeing,
but the deeper, symbolic sight that allows us to perceive truth. The golden leaf covering
one eye of the woman is not a blindfold, but a veil – a choice, a barrier between reality and
illusion. What does she refuse to see? Or perhaps, what has the world refused to let her
witness?
The red macaws, with their piercing gaze, become her borrowed eyes, sentinels of
knowledge and intuition. Their presence is striking, almost unsettling, as if they carry
ancient secrets, watching a world that often chooses to remain blind. They are vibrant,
untamed, and aware – symbols of truth that cannot be silenced.
The deep crimson tones, the pomegranate bursting open, the halo-like glow
around her head – all elements speak of passion, sacrifice, and the eternal struggle
between ignorance and enlightenment. She is both powerful and vulnerable, a reflection
of all who seek to uncover what lies beyond the gilded illusions of life.
Through this piece, I ask: Is blindness always forced upon us, or do we sometimes
choose it to protect ourselves? And if we dare to see the world through the eyes of truth, will
we be ready for what is revealed?
