Description
I depicted fishermen returning from a long and demanding day at sea.
They are tired, exhausted, yet there is a deep sense of satisfaction and gratitude in their eyes for the rich harvest they have brought. This scene, which I witnessed during one of my walks along the bay, captivated me instantly and stayed in my memory. It was a moment of calm, a harmony between man and nature, which inspired me to create this painting.
It took me over four months to complete it, filled with moments of doubt and constant adjustments of details. There were days when I felt the painting would never be finished, but I always knew I had to keep going. This ongoing process became, for me, a reflection of the will and determination of those men who, though weary, never lose faith in the success of their work.
The seagulls I painted flying around them—one of them carrying a fish—symbolize the harvest and the fulfillment of their efforts. Their gazes, full of fatigue but also of deep contentment, express what is most precious to a true fisherman: reaching the goal they set out for.
While painting this scene, I listened to my favorite piece, “Dusunce” by Vagif Mustafazadeh, which accompanied me throughout the process. The music, like the painting itself, became a path to inner balance and peace. After four months of work in my studio in Baku, I felt not only happy to have completed the project but also grateful that I didn’t give up.
This painting is not just a work of art for me—it is a reminder of the power of perseverance, faith, and the inner strength that lies hidden within each of us.
